fried-ay

exhaustion will turn to relief as soon as my head hits the pillow
i will turn my back to you and you can wrap your arms around me and kiss the back of my head
i never mean all the things i say

five little babies will cry and reach for their mother
she will tend to every need
i will watch in wonder andĀ amazement at how she knows exactly what to do
i will scoop them up and give her a break
and wonder what it will be like to know exactly what to do

the days go on and on and on
the coffee gets weaker and the tea more bitter
nothing smells as sweet
or tastes as good
but the sun shines brighter than it has in weeks

and i am wishing for a cloudy day
and a place to rest my weary head
and i rarely mean even half of what i say
